Surviving sunstone at the reconstructed ?
Surviving sunstone at the reconstructed Mormon Temple at Nauvoo, Illinois. It depicts sun face emerging between clouds beneath a pair of hand-held trumpets. They are believed to be inspired by Paul's writing in 1 Corinthians 15:40-42 which likened the glory of the heavenly kingdoms to that of the sun, the moon and the stars. The stone was carved in the 1840s. (CSU_ALPHA_1489) CSU Archives/Everett Collection
