Timucuan Indians of Florida kneel at a Jean Ribaults column, which is decorated with the French royal coat of arms. The have adorned it with garlands and made offerings of baskets of food, garlands, liquid filled skins, and a bow and arrows. Standing at right is Rene de Laudonniere with Chief Athore, and other French soldiers. Laudonniere was on his 2nd expedition in 1564 to establish the Huguenot Fort Caroline on the St. Johns River.
