Union Civil War General James Ricketts with his wife Fannie, after he returned to duty in 1862. Col. Ricketts was shot four times and captured at the First Battle of Bull Run, July 1861. As a prisoner of war in Richmond, his wife Fannie was allowed to stay with him as his nurse. He was exchanged and paroled, and back in the war by the summer of 1862
