Union POWs in front of Casement No. 2, at Castle Pinckney in Charleston Harbor, SC, August 1861. They have named their quarters, Hotel de Zouave. The were captured in the First Battle of Bull Run (aka First Manassas) on July 21, 1861 while defending the Union batteries on Henry House Hill. The prisoners from New York and Michigan regiments pose in front of the cell in which they were confined at night
