U.S. soldier aims a 2.36-inch bazooka at a North Korean tank during the Battle of Osan. On his right is Kenneth R. Shadrick, one of the first Americans killed in the Korean War. July 6, 1950. The Battle of Osan was the first engagement between United States and North Koreans. 150 Americans were killed or wounded. North Koreans suffered 42 dead and 85 wounded with four tanks destroyed.
