U.S. soldiers of the 1st Cavalry land at P'ohang-Dong, Korea, July 15-22, 1950. Within days the untested and understrength division was in the Battle of Yongdong (July 22-25). Ending in a U.S. retreat, the battle slowed the North Korean advance allowing the Pusan Perimeter time to prepare its defenses. Korean War, 1950-53. (BSLOC_2014_11_7)
