USS Macon, sister ship of USS Akron, over New York Harbor, ca. 1933. USS Macon, participated in Naval operations until crashing in a storm off Point Sur, California, on Feb. 12, 1935. Most of the crew survived but the crash ended the Navy's rigid airship operations. (BSLOC_2013_8_210)
