Ten veterans of the failed Bay of Pigs Invasion ?
Ten veterans of the failed Bay of Pigs Invasion were returned to the U.S. by the Castro government in May 1961. Fidel Castro proposed to exchange the other prisoners for 500 large farm tractors, valued at US $28 million. Instead, the U.S. agreed to a ransom of $53 million in food and medical supplies, donated by U.S. private companies. (CSU_ALPHA_1607) CSU Archives/Everett Collection
