Vladimir Hurban, Czech minister to US, attending the annual White House diplomatic reception. Dec. 15, 1939. Europe was at war and Hurban's nation annexed into Nazi Germany. The reception was one of the briefest social events of the Roosevelt administration. Hurban was also a member of the government in exile of Czechoslovakia. (CSU_2015_11_1227)
