Volga Germans in Russia, ca. 1910-1930. In Sept. 1941, 512, 000 were forced into internal exile in USSR, sent to Siberia and Kazakhstan. Men between the ages of 15 and 55 were separated from their families for forced labor camps. Catherine the Great invited Europeans (except Jews) to emigrate to Russia where they would be allowed to maintain their language and culture. (BSLOC_2015_13_112)
