William Taft, 26th President of the United States
William Taft, 26th President of the United States, held office for one term from 1909-1913. Taft struggled with an uncooperative Congress, and generally failed to implement needed tax, financial, and social reforms during his administration. He later found his dream job, as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in 1921. William Schevill's oil on canvas portrait was painted during Taft's term of office (BSIC_2020_12_70)
