World War 1 in Africa. Oxen hauling a British armed motor boat, one of two transported from South Africa to Lake Tanganyika in Dec. 1916. Dragged through the African jungle by train, river, roads, two gun boats defeated the Germans and gained Anglo-Belgian control of Lake by mid-1916. (BSLOC_2013_1_43)
