World War 1 in Africa. Tractor pulling an armed motor boat across a bridge on its way to Lake Tanganyika in Dec. 1916. Axe men cut roads through miles of brush and seventeen bridges over eighty feet long were built in the trek from Cape Town. Once there, two gunboats, Mimi and Toutou, defeated German boats and obtained command of the Lake. Dec. 1915 (BSLOC_2013_1_42)
