World War 1 in the Middle East. Captain Sareyya Bey, seated, 2nd from left, Commander of the Camel Corps. Beside him with arms folded is 2nd Lt. Halet Efendi. Standing at left is Lt. Yakup Robenson the son of a British family who converted to Islam and fought with the Turks. All were killed in the Battle of Katia, April 23, 1916, when British Forces defended the Suez Canal.
