Satirical cartoon about the fashion for using wild bird feathers on hats and other accessories. Despite the laudable endeavours of The Society for the Protection of Birds [the Society was formed in 1889 and was granted its Royal Charter in 1904 becoming the RSPB], the harpy fashion appears still... to make endless holocausts of small fowl for the furnishing forth of feather trimmings for the fair sex, says Punch magazine
