The Bosphorus, Istanbul, Turkey - Rumeli Hisari
Part of the Rumeli Hisari, a Fortress on the European side of the Bosphorus. Built by Mehmet II in 1451-1452, prior to his conquering of Constantinople. The castle was completed in a staggering 4 months. After the 16th century, the Castle held a prison. Restored in 1953 in honour of the 500th anniversary of the conquest of Istanbul
