Brazil - Sao Paulo - Serpentarium of the Instituto Butantan
Brazil - Sao Paulo - Serpentarium of the Instituto Butantan, a Brazilian biomedical research centre affiliated to the Sao Paulo State Secretary of Health. It is located near the campus of the University of Sao Paulo. The snake venom was milked to aid the development of serums and anti-venoms. Today, the institute contains a venom farm where researchers milk around a thousand snakes for their venom which is used to make antivenoms and for medical research
