Bund, Shanghai, People's Republic of China - in the foreground can be seen a statue of Sir Robert Hart, 1st Baronet (1835-1911), a British consular official in China, who served as the second Inspector-General of China's Imperial Maritime Custom Service (IMCS) from 1863 to 1911. The Bund is a waterfront area in central Shanghai focused on a section of Zhongshan Road within the former Shanghai International Settlement, along the western bank of the Huangpu River, facing Pudong (in the eastern part of Huangpu District)
