Celebrating Portuguese Independence
Postcard celebrating the revolution of 1910, a republican coup d'etat that occurred in Portugal on 5th October 1910, which deposed King Manuel II and established the Portuguese First Republic. Pictured around a personification of Portugal include: President Joaquim Teofilo Fernandes Braga and the Ministers of War, the Navy, Jose Relvas - Minister of Finance, the Interior, Afonso Costa - Minister of Justice, the Foreign Office and Business. The deposed King Manuel is pictured somewhat unflatteringly at the base, being blasted out of office along with his military and religious allies
