Djemaa el-Djedid Mosque and Consulate Palace - Algiers
The Consulate Palace and Djemaa el-Djedid Mosque at Algiers, Algeria. Contrary to its name, the New Mosque, (the Djemaa el-Djedid) sometimes also called the Pecherie Mosque, was built in 1660 on the site of an earlier Koranic school and paid for by public subscription. The statue on the left is of the Duc D'Orleans on horseback
