Essaouira, Morocco - Children's Holiday - Wheel Rides
Essaouira - a city in the western Moroccan economic region of Marrakech-Tensift-Al Haouz, on the Atlantic coast (also known by its Portuguese name of Mogador or Mogadore). The Berber name means The Wall, a reference to the fortress walls that originally enclosed the city and which can clearly been seen in this fascinating postcard depicting a Children's Holiday in the city. Crowds gather to ride on traditional pin wheel rides, popular in this part of North West Africa and unchanged from forms of entertainment ride seen around the world from the late medieval period onwards and still popular (in larger form!) to this day
