European Gentleman driven Triumphal Arch, Palmyra, Syria
An eminent European Gentleman being driven through the Monumental Arch of Triumph at Palmyra, Syria in the eastern section of Palmyra's colonnade built at the time of Emperor Septimius Severus, probably to celebrate the emperor's victories over the Parthians. This stunning architectural survival was partially destroyed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS / ISIL / Daesh) in October 2015
