The First Balkan War - An Allegory
The First Balkan War in allegorical depiction, showing the Forces of the Cross (the countries of the Balkan League: Serbia, Greece, Montenegro and Bulgaria) chasing away and defeating the forces of the Crescent (armed somewhat tellingly by German Krupp guns). The combined armies of the Balkan states overcame the numerically inferior and strategically disadvantaged Ottoman armies and achieved rapid success.
The caption reads: "The Cross chases the Crescent out of Europe."
