A French Battery in action near Sedd-el-Bahr
This picture shows one of the guns of a French battery in action in the Gallipoli Peninsula. Throughout thr memorable landing opertaions the French troops rendered valuable assistance to the British forces, and recording his appreciation, General Sir Ian Hamilton wrote in his dispatch: During the fighting which followed the landing of the French Division at Sedd-el-Bahr, no troops could have acquitted themselves more credibally under very trying circumstances, and under very heavy losses, than those working under the orders of Monsieur General d'Armade
