Giresun - Turkey
Black Sea Region - north-eastern Turkey. Known to the Ancient Greeks as Choerades or Phamacia and later as Kerasous or Cerasus ('horn for peninsula). The English word cherry, French cherise, Spanish cereza, southern Italian dialect cerasa - all come from the classical greek for cherry which has been identified with Cerasus. The cherry was first exported to Europe from Cerasus in Roman times
