The Grand Pump Room Hotel, Stall Street, Bath
The Grand Pump Room Hotel, Stall Street, Bath. In 1869 the Grand Pump Room Hotel opened. Designed by Wilson and Wilcox, its ponderous late Georgian style had the side wings topped by Frenchified pavilion roofs. It closed the vista west along Abbey Churchyard from the Abbey's west front, past the Pump Room, and through the north Colonnade. Demolished in 1959, it was replaced by pallid Neo-Georgian work
