Lynmouth, Devon - August, 1952 - nine inches of rain in 12 hoursd led to devastation caused by 90 million tonnes of flood water and 200 thousand tonnes of boulders being released from the heights of Exmoor, leading to the loss of 34 lives, with a further 420 made homeless
