The Molo, Venice, Italy - with covered Gondola
Stone quaysides are sometimes called moles. A well-known example is the Molo in Venice. It is the site of the Doge's Palace and two pillars (pictured here) which form a gateway to the sea. To the left can be seen the Santa Maria della Salute Cathedral
