The Old Slave Block, Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA. In the days prior to the US Civil War, the block was used for the sale and annual hire of slaves. Albert Crutchfield, shown in this picture, was sold from this very block about 1859, at which time he was a boy of 15 years old
