Turkey - The Ruins of Ani (formerly in Armenia) - near to Kars. The minaret is that of the Manuchihir Mosque (sometimes written as Menuchihr or Minuchihr) thought to have been built in the 11th century and standing at the very edge of the ravine at Ani, overlooking the Akhurian River (or Arpa Cay')
