Salvador Correia attacks Fort San Miguel, Luanda, Angola
The attack by Salvador Correia de Sa e Benevides (1602-1688) - Portuguese soldier and politician - on the Dutch-held Fort Of San Miguel in Luanda, Angola. In order to resolve the issue of the Dutch occupation in Africa, in 1647 Correia commanded a fleet that regained Angola and Sao Tome and Principe for Portugal. He was subsequently appointed as the Governor of Angola
