Sanliurfa, Turkey - Hodja
A Hodja (back centre) at Sanliurfa (often simply known as Urfa in daily language), formerly cited as Edessa in in Aramaic, Riha in Kurdish, and Urhay in Armenian) is a city in south-eastern Turkey, and the capital of Sanliurfa Province. A Hodja is a man who has completed the Hajj Pilgrimage to Mecca and then often decide to grow a beard. This postcard dtaes from the French occupation of this area (hence the French caption)
