Synchronised Swimming Wedding causes quite a stir
August 1962, Kinson, Bournemouth. The wedding of Eileen Hart, 22 of New Milton and David King of Coombe Gardens, Bournemouth caused quite a stir (and claims of a publicity stunt) in the local press (and rather a lot of tutting it seems) when seven of Hart's teammates from the Bournemouth Aqua Theatre's Big Splash summer show posed for the wedding photographs outside the church in their swimsuits. The General Manager of the Pier Approach Baths apologised to the Vicar of St. Andrew's Church (the Rev. Alfred Loughlin) on behalf of the Baths Committee. The whole incident was closed amicably - "They are just high-spirited girls" was the verdict
