Widnes Transporter Bridge
The Widnes Transporter Bridge - opened by Sir J T Brunner on 29th May 1905. A span of 1000ft from the centre to the centre of each tower, each 1000ft in height. The crossing (driven by electricity) can convey one from Lancashire to Cheshire in 3 minutes
