Winter's Gibbet, Elsdon, Northumbria
Winter's Gibbet on the Morpeth Road, Elsdon, Northumbria. William Winter was hanged in Newcastle for murdering Margaret Grozier in 1791. His body was then here and hung until it rotted away. Legend says that his ghost haunts the moors surrounding this gibbet
