Yacht Racing at Bembridge, Isle of Wight, England
Original Redwing class racing off Bembridge, Isle of Wight, England. Following a meeting at the Bembridge Sailing Club, Isle of Wight, in 1896, Charles E Nicholson came up with the Redwing design in ten days and by 1898 there were sixteen gaff rigged wooden boats in the class. They were built by Camper and Nicholsons of Gosport. In 1935 Charles Nicholson updated the design and in 1989 the fleet was totally revamped this time with fibreglass hulls
