Cover design, P&O Pencillings, illustrated by W W Lloyd
Cover design, P&O Pencillings, illustrated by W W Lloyd, rare hardbound volume, published by Day and Son, London with lithography by Emrik and Binger. In 1891 P&O commissioned artist William Whitelock Lloyd to produce pen and ink drawings of life on board a P&O Liner to be sold to passengers as a keepsake of their voyage. The sketches were drawn on board the steamship Himalaya as it travelled from Southampton to India via the Suez Canal, and are brilliantly evocative of life aboard the liners of the time. 14 x 10 inches
