RMS Lusitania - bronze trench art, WW1
RMS Lusitania - extremely rare WW1 bronze trench art souvenir related to the sinking of the original Lusitania. She was sunk a mile east of Folkestone gate by German submarine U5. The turned bronze bowl was made from a portion of the U5 which was captured in July 1916 (see 13745871). The bowl is engraved a portion of the submarine captured by HMS Firedrake. Presented to Asst. Pay. A.W. Beard by Engr. Comdr. Ham R.N. on the occasion of his marriage 19th November 1917. 7.75 inches
