RMS Titanic - Christopher Mills, Assistant Butcher, survivor

RMS Titanic - Assistant Butcher Christopher Mills (1860-1930), crew member and survivor. Elgin 14 carat gold watch dating from 1902, owned by Mr Mills and reputed by family lore to have been acquired by him whilst he was fleeing the Titanic and was saved with him. Although at first presumed dead, he was rescued (possibly leaving the sinking ship in collapsible boat C); he returned to England and resumed his career at sea. The watch was passed down to his son Alfred and is now owned by Christopher Mills great grand-daughter. A signed letter of provenance from his great grand-daughter accompanies the lot together with Christopher Mills identity certificate, Titanic related postcards, photo and a letter from Mr Mills niece, dated 20 April 1912 regarding the uncertainty over Christopher Mills survival
