RMS Titanic - items from the Samuel Alfred Smith Archive. Sammy Smith was a carpenter on the SS Minia, one of the ships which helped in the recovery of bodies. Smith recovered a piece of oak and made a cross out of it, in memory of the victims. Original copy of The Western Union News featuring Captain de Carteret of the SS Minia.
