RMS Titanic - Maria Robinson's locket and brooch
RMS Titanic - property of Maria Robinson, fiancee of Wallace Hartley, bandleader and violinist, who died in the disaster. A 9 carat rose gold small oval locket, the front engraved with foliate scrolls and a lower polished vacant area, the back engraved with stylised leaf trefoils possibly ivy with hallmarks for Chester 1912, sponsor's mark D and Co for Edward Durban and Company. The locket encloses a photograph and has an additional O ring stamped 9.375, with a later yellow metal O ring. The locket measures approximately 7/8ins. high (15/16ins. including the fixed loop), approximately 11/16ins. wide and 3/16ins. deep. Total weight 3 grams gross. Plus a 9 carat gold floral engraved scrolling fob brooch, hallmarked Birmingham 1910, sponsor's mark W.H.C for William H. Collins and Co Ltd. The brooch has a later steel pin. The brooch measures 1.5 inches wide and approximately 3/4ins. high overall, and weighs 2.0 grams gross
