White Star Line, brass and cranberry epergne, flared bowl
White Star Line, extremely rare brass and cranberry epergne with flared bowl, engraved "White Star Line". The ship's wheel and the arrangement of three oars both independently rotate around the vertical axis. Hanging beneath the apaddle feet is a ship's bell. Epergnes were popular in the Victorian and Edwardian periods as table centrepieces, and it is believed by repute this example graced the boardroom table at the White Star Line offices at 1 Cockspur Street in London
