White Star Line, RMS Titanic. Rare First Class passenger list that survived the sinking in the pocket of George Brereton. He was a professional gambler, which was probably the reason he was aboard Titanic: he would have been on the lookout for wealthy passengers to play against. He joined Titanic in Southampton on 10 April 1912, First Class Ticket No. 111427. At the time Titanic struck the iceberg he was in the First Class smoking room, quite possibly "at work" playing cards. It has been suggested that he escaped Titanic in lifeboat 9. Printed over twenty pages, it lists the First Class passengers on board. Interestingly Brereton has highlighted Charles Hays and written Millionaire next to his name. These lists were given to First Class passengers and contained all the information they would need on board, from wireless telegraph rates to the hire of steamer chairs and blankets. Also included is a list of Titanic's sailings for 1912. The passenger list was acquired by Ken Schultz directly from Brereton's great niece, complete with handwritten provenance and the WWII War Bonds envelope it was kept in. 7ins. x 5ins
