H. L. Oakley at Llandudno
Harry Lawrence Oakley (1882-1960), silhouette artist, pictured outside his studio on the pier at Llandudno. Oakley, whose silhouettes were in demand for posters, magazines illustrations and advertising, also cut thousands of portraits during his lifetime. He set up studios around the country, at seaside resorts and in department stores, but Llandudno was a particular favourite of his and he returned for the summer season regularly. Examples of Oakley's silhouettes can be seen neatly displayed in the window of his studio
