H. L. Oakley at Llandudno taking a portrait
The silhouette artist, Harry Lawrence Oakley (1882 - 1960), pictured cutting a portrait in his studio at at Llandudno during the 1920s. Oakley, whose silhouettes were in demand for posters, magazines illustrations and advertising, also cut thousands of portraits during his lifetime. He set up studios around the country, at seaside resorts and in department stores, but Llandudno was a particular favourite of his and he returned for the summer season regularly
