Harry Lawrence Oakley (1882-1960), silhouette artist, pictured outside his studio at The Spa, Scarborough. Oakley, whose silhouettes were in demand for posters, magazines illustrations and advertising, also cut thousands of portraits during his lifetime. He set up studios around the country, at seaside resorts and in department stores. Examples of his portraiture work - dogs as well as people - line the windows of the studio
