"I remember that in 1870-"
Parading for writing-to-the-papers: A London Club in War-time.'
In a London club a crowd of elderly gentlemen are queing up to reach three desks where they are furiously writing letters to newspapers. Bateman pokes fun at how the elderly seemed to do nothing in war-time but write letters in to newspapers giving their often outdated views on war, comparing it to previous conflicts which they would remember like the 1870 Franco-Prussian War
