Mrs Cecilia Bochenek (?-1981), founder of the Horder Centre, with a group of architects and builders during the early stages of construction of the new building. Despite being crippled by arthritis and confined to a wheelchair, Mrs Bochenek and her friend, Dr Joyce Peake, set up the Horder recuperative home at Crowborough in East Sussex, specifically for people with arthritis. The centre was named after Lord Horder of Ashford who became the first President
