Reg Bendell, HMS Royal Oak, WW2
HMS Royal Oak, British Revenge-class battleship completed in 1916. On 14 October 1939 the ship was torpedoed by a German U-boat at Scapa Flow, resulting in 833 deaths. The wreck is now a designated war grave, and an annual ceremony is held to mark the loss. Seen here is a cartoon of one of the few survivors, Reg Bendell, who was blown from the depth of the upturned vessel by an air bubble
