Bodice (detail) worn by Queen Alexandra (1844-1925). Mauve silk taffeta (now faded), covered with ivory Brussels cotton lace patterned with large floral motifs. A separate shaped piece of lace, which forms the fashionable high collar, has been added to the bodice to hide a small scar on the Queen's neck
